Marchpane Studio is a small friendly space that can be booked for groups of 2- 4 people for any workshop.

Workshops are all 3.5 hours long.

Creative
Colour
Half-day Workshop
3.5 hours
In this workshop we will experiment with colour using a range of art media. Acrylic & watercolour paints will be used as well as inks, wax, bleach, water-soluble media and dry pigments such as brusho and neocolour. Outcomes will be largely abstract so that the focus can be on the properties and effects of the media.
This is a half-day workshop. Tea, coffee, soft drinks & biscuits provided.

Flower Painting
Half-day Workshop
3.5 Hours
Create your own small acrylic painting of a flower close-up.
Learn how to use layers effectively and develop
details to create a finished painting.
You will have a choice of images, all images are from photographs that I have taken.

Fancy Foliage
Half-day Workshop
3.5 hours
This is a painting and mixed media workshop. You will leave with a trio of small pieces of art work . We will take inspiration from fancy foliage. Images and plants will be provided as inspiration. (Think cacti, succulents & variegated leaves being my interpretation of "fancy!") You will have the opportunity to try new techniques, combine different media, create interesting compositions and experiment.

Approaching Abstraction
Half-day Workshop

Abstract Art leaves many people bemused but we are often drawn to it for their colours/patterns and enjoy finding our own interpretations.
Learn about a small range of abstract artists, their methods & inspiration.
This workshop is about experimenting, exploring and freeing up your mind!

This is a primarily a painting workshop but will involve mixed media too.

Lino Print
Half-day Workshop
3.5 hours
In this workshop you will create a small lino print. The image will be decided with you beforehand so that is ready to be transferred on to the lino plate.
The lino once cut will be printed using a small FOME press with water based oil ink.

Gelli Plate Printing
Half-day Workshop
3.5 hours
Gelli prints are a form of Monoprinting which means you are creating a "one off" print. We will experiment with various ways you can create prints using a gelli plate.
Images to work from will be provided or you can choose to bring a selection of your own images to be inspired by.

In this workshop we will use a variety of drawing materials and explore experimental ways of drawing as well as observational drawing. Tips and tricks for ways of seeing will be given and you leave with a mini portfolio of drawings.

The focus of this workshop will be drawing in a variety of colour media both wet and dry. We will work from observation using a range of experimental techniques.
This workshop is great if you know you are already good at drawing and great for anyone who lacks confidence with their drawing skills.

Wallpaper landscapes
Half-day Workshop

Using wallpaper scraps we will create collaged landscapes.
I will provide templates and direction with plenty of room for freestyling or use the tried and tested method.

In this workshop you will create your own papers using a range of experimental techniques. These papers will then be transformed into an animal of your choice or a portrait.
Templates are provided but we will be able to create whatever animal or portrait you
wanted to do.

Wreath
Half-day Workshop

Rag wreath making is an enjoyable, pretty mindful experience as you can just become absorbed in the process of choosing and placing colours and patterns, chat with friends and create your wreath. Wreaths don't have to just be for Christmas! They can be for any time of year. Easter, birthdays, favourite colours!

Day of the Dead

This workshop is Day of the Dead themed. The well known Mexican celebration of life.
This is a painting and mixed media workshop.
You will hand paint and decorate a ready made air dry clay skull. We will use the popular motifs to create gelli prints and we will cut a papel picardo too.
